Prescott AZ 2011 Christmas courthouse lightingOne of the most exciting and beautiful events in Prescott, Arizona, is the annual lighting of the Courthouse Plaza to celebrate Christmas. Before the switch was thrown, there were traditional readings by local dignitaries and carols were sung by local school choirs. This year, for the first time, the trees that line the street were also decorated with lights, 100 trees in total all around the square, to honor Arizona's 100-year anniversary of statehood coming up in 2012.
